Why circulating tumor cells

Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) are cancer cells that have left a tumor and are travelling in the bloodstream. They are vanishingly rare among the billions of normal cells in a blood sample, which is exactly what makes them both hard to isolate and worth studying: a blood draw is far less invasive than a tissue biopsy, and the cells themselves carry intact protein and nucleic-acid information.

The Cell Circuit approach

LMNTIC's core technology is the Cell Circuit — patterned soft-magnetic microstructures that act as circuit elements for cells, trapping, transporting, and gating them on a chip. Realized in the L:Cell chip, it is the basis for L:Biopsy: one-step, ultra-pure isolation of CTCs directly from whole blood.

Most of what we build sits downstream of that idea — from counting and staining captured cells to preparing them for DNA and protein analysis.

  • The science — CTCs, liquid biopsy, and what a captured cell can tell you.
  • The engineering — microfluidics, magnetophoresis, and the chip.
  • The work in progress — how our research-use, pharma, and clinical directions are developing, written honestly about what is established and what is still ahead.

We'll keep it grounded: we explain mechanisms and approaches, and we cite real evidence when we have it rather than reaching for numbers we can't stand behind.
